Company C, 8th California Infantry

Henry Adams enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant at San Francisco, California, November 23, 1864, and was commissioned into Company C, 8th California Infantry, January 30, 1865. He resigned his commission and was mustered out at San Francisco July 31, 1865. He filed for a Civil War veteran's pension July 8, 1892, and received certificate No. 1,053,042. Henry was a widowed farmer living in Wilmington, California, when he was first admitted to the Sawtelle Soldiers' Home December 8, 1892. He was discharged twice at his own request: July 14, 1910, and again on January 5, 1918. He was readmitted to the Sawtelle Home for the last time May 8, 1918, and remained there until his death. Henry's Sawtelle Home Record has his brother-in-law, Marion McKee of Los Angeles, California, as his surviving next-of-kin.
