William N. BOGARD, the son of William and Martha BOGARD, pioneer settlers of Indiana was born near Simpson Chapel, Greene County, Indiana, the 29th of March 1867. He has always lived close to his place of birth. He was married to Lottie VANCE, April 25, 1900. To this union was born four children, Thomas, Helen, Paul and Martha. Thomas died at the age of eight. He was a loving father, kind friend and a good neighbor.
His mother was born in Virginia and with her parents emigrated to Indiana. His great-grandfather was killed by the Indians.
His father was a minister of the Methodist church. He leaves to mourn his departure, a widow, three children, Helen, Paul and Martha; one grandchild, two brothers, Milton BOGARD of near Switz City; one sister, Mrs. Emma STEINFIELD, of East St. Louis; one brother and three sisters having preceded him in death.
He departed this life May 20, 1925. The funeral services were held at Simpson Chapel Church Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The services were conducted by Rev. SHELDON, after which he was laid to rest in the Simpson Chapel Cemetery.
