Birth: May 2, 1842
Death: Jun. 22, 1879

Enlisted as a private in Co. A, 102nd OVI, on 13 August 1862 at age 20. He was captured while a member of a detachment sent on 24 September 1864 to relieve Ft. Henderson in Athens, AL, which was under siege by rebel cavalry commanded by CSA Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest. The detachment was fighting to gain the fort, and within sight of it, when the fort was unexpectedly surrendered. Forrest then forced the relief detachment to surrender as well. He was sent to Cahaba Prison and was exchanged on 22 April 1865. He was mustered out on 24 June 1865 at Camp Chase, OH.
