Burial: Probably in Mound City National Cemetery, Cairo, Pulaski Co., IL (Per "Roster of Ohio Soldiers, 1861-1866, War of the Rebellion," Vol. 2, pp. 762.)

Samuel Wallace McClenahan, b. April 23, '43; Co. B 15th Ohio from its organization in '61 by his cousin, '61, until fatally wounded in the reg'ts first battle, second day of Shiloh, April 7, '62*; d. at home, May 5, 1862; Fairview Churchyard.
* Was in Grant's army that came to Buell's support. While lying down aiming for first fire, he was struck in instep of right foot and calf of left leg. Gun not fired. Wounds, specially former, long undressed, led to gangrene and death.
