Jeff was the son of Clair and Ruth Burlew of Urbana IL. He graduated from Rantoul High School in 1966. He attended Western Illinois University majoring in architecture. jeff was the first surveyor of Berns, Clancy and Associates [BCA] in Urbana when it was founded. he was employed by BCA part-time since his retirement from full-time employment last year.

Jeff's great gift and passion was coaching youth sports. he coached soccer and basketball in the Urbana Park District and founded the Youth Soccer League in Villa Grove. For 20 years he coached both boys and girls in basketball, soccer, and softball; often coaching two or three teams a season. Jeff recently formed and served as commissioner of a church softball league in Southern Champaign and Douglas Counties. He was also an avid fan of rock and roll music, fishing, classic western novels, and the Chicago Cubs.

Jeff's faith was the cornerstone of his life. he was an ordained elder in the Philo Presbyterian Church and taught high school and adult Sunday school classes for more than 20 years.

Jeff leaves his wife Barbara, mother Ruth, sister Claire [Dave] Isom, and children Alice [Tim] Hauser of Sullivan, Katie [Matt] Burlew of Marietta GA, Madeline and Samantha Clabaugh, and Anna Kincaid. Jeff was anticipating the arrival of another granddaughter in December.
