Gladys was born the daughter of Mark and Susie Johnson Haling.
She married Claud Conn in 1922, and made their home west of Tuscola for most of their years. They had a nice farm a few miles south of route 36, just off the Bourbon Road.
Gladys was a school teacher and homemaker, and a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church.
Gladys and Claud had five daughters:
1. Lucy +Leonard W. Grayson
2. Claudia Jean infant
3. Hazel +Lloyd Navel
4. Marjorie Louise +Orie Jay Bowles
5. Ruth P. +Jesse Benner
and two sons:
1. Mark G. Conn +Marge Shaw
2. Don G. Conn +Nina
Claud and Gladys were good-natured, friendly, and hospitable people. Their grandson, Denny [Mark's son], was my best friend in high school. We often visited the farm and enjoyed being around his grandparents.
When they bacame older, they moved off the farm into town at Tuscola.
They were married for more than 75 years and each lived to be over a hundred years old. Gladys passed away at the Arthur Home in Arthur IL.
