Joseph and Abigail were the parents of;
Joseph, William, Edward, Sealey, Mary, Dorothy, Philip.

In 1755 Joseph served in the French and Indian War; he went with Colonel Joseph Blanchard to Crown Point in New York.
In 1757 he was selectman of Exeter.
Joseph served in the Revolutionary War under Captain Phillip Tilton; Colonel Enoch Poor, 12 June 1775. He served again under Captain Winthrop Rowe's Company; Colonel Poor's Regiment 1777.
On 23 December 1776 he was mustered out and paid at Exeter, New Hampshire from Captain John Moody's Company, as a private from Wakefield, New Hampshire.
