William E. "Cakey" Brady, 78, entered into God's eternal care on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia M. (Funk) Brady, his wife of 57 years. Born May 2, 1927, in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Mary Cecelia (Eckenrode) Brady. He was retired from C.H. Reed, Inc., in Hanover, after 32 years of service. He was a 1945 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown. Cakey was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Air Force, while stationed in the Far East and Tokyo. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover, where he would often volunteer. He was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans in Bonneauville, McSherrystown Home Association, and AARP. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Hanover, with the Rev. John A. Szada Jr. officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service to be held at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
