Edna J. Reynolds Opfer, age 74, of La Monte, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
She was born July 15, 1937, in Warrensburg, the daughter James B. and Edna Mae (Coates) Reynolds.
On May 3, 1958, she was united in marriage to Charles W. Opfer in San Diego, CA.
Mrs. Opfer was a graduate of Warrensburg High School. She worked as a Press Operator at Waterloo Industries until her retirement. She was a member of the La Monte Methodist Church, as well as a church board member. Mrs. Opfer was the treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #520 and a member of the La Monte Cemetery Board.
Mrs. Opfer is survived by her husband Charles; three sons: Charles E. Opfer and wife Debbie of La Monte, David W. Opfer and wife Dana of Alton, IL, and James A. Opfer of La Monte; two daughters: Brenda L. Opfer and Betty Wood, both of La Monte; two brothers: Dale Reynolds and Doug Reynolds, both of Warrensburg; one sister, Maudie Burden of Centerview; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Barbara Rhoads; and three brothers: Earl, Donnie, and Mike Reynolds.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the La Monte United Methodist Church with Reverend Steve Burbee officiating. Pallbearers were Brian Brockman, Isaac Toliver, Jason Opfer, George McKernon, Daniel Rhoads, and Wayne Opfer.
Burial followed at La Monte Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Moore Funeral Home in La Monte.
