Born the son of Lucy and Alexander Dabney, Arthur's occupation was a lithographer. He enlisted in Company H, Virginia 15th Infantry Regiment, the "Young Guards", on Apr. 27, 1861 and was discharged Sept. 7, 1861. Records indicate he was mustered out to engage in printing treasury notes for the government.
There is no record of re-enlistment, but according to his headstone, Arthur was killed at Petersburg.
