The 1860 census has his name as NIMROD R. HUDDLESTON; his Grandfather Brewer's name is Nimrod.

The death certificate gives his occupation as a farmer. His g-g-grandson states he was a horse trader.

NOTE: His name is found as Nim most of the time, my mother always referred to him as Uncle Nim. Death certificate has Nim Rod and one obituary has Nim R. the other has Nim Rod.
Mary Jo Freeman insists it is Nimrod with middle name Riley, and only source of middle name is a granddaughter that was 3 1/2 when he died.

Nim Rod Huddleston, a pioneer of the Missouri Ozarks, died last night at his farm home, four miles east of West Plains, passing away on his seventy-seventh birthday anniversary. He had been in ill health the last four years, his physical decline dating from a fall in which he suffered a severe chest and shoulder injury. A week ago today he suffered a heart attack, complicated with aedema of the lungs, and had since gradually grown worse.
Mr. Huddleston was born in Oregon County near Rover, MO, his parents the late Mr. and Mrs. William Huddleston, being among the earliest and best known of the pioneers of that part of the Missouri Ozarks. He spent most of his life in the district where he was born, and where he was popular in a wide circle of friends, being possessed of the friendly, neighborly qualities characteristic of the native Ozarkians. He took an active part in the various community affairs at Rover, and had since young manhood been a member of the Baptist church there.
Twenty-two years ago Mr. Huddleston purchased the T.H. Butcher farm east of West Plains, where he and his family have since made their home, and where he died. With him at the time of his death were his wife, and his three sons and five daughters, Henry and Charles Huddleston of Rover, Fred Huddleston of Dewey, OK, Mrs. Nora Hablutzel of Rover, Mrs. Virgie Parsons of Thomasville, Mrs. Ottie Harris of Cull, Mrs. [Bess] Harris of Peace Valley, and Mrs. Alice McFarland of Hepburn, IA. Twenty-six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters also survive. The brothers are Jack Huddleston of West Plains, and J.H. Huddleston of Koshkonong, and the sisters are Mrs. Alicia [Lavina] House of Alicia, AR, and Mrs. Martin Harold [Martha Hearle] of Wichita, KS. The sisters are both advanced in years and in frail health, and will be unable to come to West Plains for the funeral.
Mr. Huddleston's first wife, Harriett Lee House of Rover, to whom he was married in 1876, died sixteen years ago. Two years later he married Mrs. Mootie Campbell, who survives him. The widow is a sister-in-law of the late Al Campbell of West Plains.
A brief funeral service for Mr. Huddleston will be held at the family residence tomorrow morning with the Rev. Joe Rouintree in charge. Later the body will be taken to Rover for another service to be held in the afternoon at the Rover school building. Burial will be in the Jolliff Cemetery at Rover.
