Esther R. Carlson, 95, Kenmare, died Monday, November 26, 2007 in the Kenmare Hospital.

Esther Duerre was born August 24, 1912, on the family farm in Stafford Township, Renville County, ND, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Reischke) Duerre. She was raised and educated in Stafford Township.

She went to Idaho to visit her sister, and it was there she met her future husband, Arthur T. Genzler. They were married in Idaho in 1941 and following their marriage they made their home in Rigby, Idaho. Arthur passed away on December 25, 1958. Esther moved back to Kenmare in the spring of 1959.

Over 50 years ago while living in Idaho, Esther took care of a young boy named Lance, from the age of one until about the age of seven. She cared for him like he was one of her own. Over time she lost touch with him, but over 50 years later with the internet and other means to find people, she was reunited with him once again and that brought her great joy.

On July 16, 1965, Esther married Otto Carlson. Following their marriage they made their home in Kenmare. Family was the light of Esther's life. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and she enjoyed spending time with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. Holidays were a big occasion for the Duerre family and they all tried to get together as a family during these times. When Esther married Otto she also had a fond respect for Otto's family and extended family and took them all in has she would her own. Otto died November 20, 1995.

Esther was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare. She was an honorary member of the Women's Mission Society and a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary. Esther was a wonderful lady, who will be missed by many. God bless the memory of Esther R. Carlson.

Those who shared in her life, Son, Arthur Genzler, Sinclair, WY; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Johnson, Kenmare; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Esther was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur T. Genzler and Otto Carlson; stepdaughters, Carolyn Brooks and Lois Jorgenson; her parents; sisters, Mabel Duerre, Hazel Schupp and Evangeline Pedersen; brothers, Lawrence, Rueben, Leslie, Franklin and Evan Duerre.
