Russell Carlson was the second of four children born to Otto Mathew Carlson and Mabel Hjort.
He was reared and educated in Kandiyohi Township and attended country school which was located just at the end of the driveway to his parents farm outside of Kenmare, ND.
He lived in Omak, WA for 25 years and moved to Spokane, WA in 1978. He worked for J.C. Penney for more than 40 years and retired as a manager in 1976.
Russell served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Downriver Men's Golf Club, the Omak Chamber of Commerce and Audubon United Methodist Church in Spokane.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Renee Carlson; two daughters, Joy McCarthy and Cheryle Cerenzia, both of Spokane; a son, Rod Carlson of Goldendale, Wash.; two brothers, Bud and Ray Carlson, both of Kenmare, N.D.; a sister, Twila Enget of Powers Lake, N.D.; and seven grandchildren.
