SSG Johnson Francis Frank, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Charlotte, NC.
Staff Sergeant Johnson Francis Frank was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, SSG Frank served our country until February 26th, 1966 in South Vietnam. He was 35 years old and was married. It was reported that Johnson died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. SSG Frank is on panel 05E, line 079 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 12 years.
On 26 Feb 1966, Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, "The Rock", lost 12 men in action west of Bien Hoa air base: SSG Johnson Francis Frank of Charlotte, NC, was one of those Soldiers killed in action.
He was my Uncle: I remember how tall and handsome he was. I remember how daring he was to go to war and parachute from planes. I made up my mind I had to experience why he would jump out of an airplane. More than 20 years later I took the leap, touched my Uncle and learned the answer. Karen.

He served with Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, "The Rock", 173rd Aiborne Brigade, USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Soldier's Medal, The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
