| Birth: | Feb. 3, 1836 Indiana, USA | | Death: | Nov. 23, 1920 Macon County Missouri, USA |  Ezekiel was the son of Jesse Maddox and Lucinda Ann Sutton. He was born in Indiana where Jesse and family had stopped off briefly.
His great-grandfather, Wilson, [wife Elizabeth Richards]; was born and married in Franklin County Virginia. Elizabeth's father, Edward Richards [1731], had a 1,000+ acre plantation 6.4 miles s.e. of Rocky Mount [between Sydnorsville and Sontag]. Ezekiel's father, Jesse Maddox, was their first-born in VA. They moved to Tennessee in 1814, and later into Kentucky.
Ezekiel's father Jesse lived for a brief time in Macoupin County IL, where His uncle Edmund Hendley Richards Sr. [1783] VA and other related families had migrated to. Soon, Jesse took his family into Monroe County MO, where most of Ezekiel's siblings were born.
Father Jesse ended up in Vernon County MO [south west Missouri]. Ezekiel settled in Macon County after 1870 where he farmed and raised his family with wife Melissa. 1860 census Vernon Co MO: Ezekiel was at home with his father Jesse. occupation was "farmer" 1870 census Vernon Co MO: Ezekiel's occupation as "merchant". A son, James 6, daughter Lewellen 6, and daughter Ann E. 2 were shown at home. 1880 census Macon Co MO: Ezekiel occupation "farmer" same children, with one addition, a daughter Mary I. 4.
Ironically, Ezekiel raised his family just less than 20 miles west of Shelbina MO, where my father and I were born.
