Ezekiel was the son of Jesse Maddox and Lucinda Ann Sutton. He was born in Indiana where Jesse and family had stopped off briefly.
His great-grandfather, Wilson, [wife Elizabeth Richards]; was born and married in Franklin County Virginia. Elizabeth's father, Edward Richards , had a 1,000+ acre plantation 6.4 miles s.e. of Rocky Mount [between Sydnorsville and Sontag]. Ezekiel's father, Jesse Maddox, was their first-born in VA. They moved to Tennessee in 1814, and later into Kentucky.
Ezekiel's father Jesse lived for a brief time in Macoupin County IL, where His uncle Edmund Hendley Richards Sr. VA and other related families had migrated to. Soon, Jesse took his family into Monroe County MO, where most of Ezekiel's siblings were born.
Father Jesse ended up in Vernon County MO [south west Missouri]. Ezekiel settled in Macon County after 1870 where he farmed and raised his family with wife Melissa.
