Services for D. Van Probasco, 75, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles F. Johnson, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
He died at 9:30 p.m. Friday in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital after an illness.
Probasco was born in Floydada and moved to Lubbock in 1964. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1936 with a degree in textile engineering and taught at Tech and the Philadephia Textile Institute. He was a textile engineer for 30 years with Dupont, West Point Manufacturing, Wellington-Sears, Fibre Corp. and Fye Fabrics in Illinois. He was also a stock and commodities broker for Rauscher Pierce for 15 years in Lubbock. He was the owner and president of Perrins Inc. before his retirement. He was a member of the Rotary Club; president of Phi Psi, an honorary textile fraternity; and a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Second Baptist Church. He married Marguerite Power on July 19, 1937, in Nashville, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Arlington and Jeff of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Sally Probasco of Madison, Wis. and Tobyn Leigh of El Paso; a brother, Don of Uvalde; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Members of the Men's Class at Second Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.
The family suggests memorials to the Lubbock Food Bank or the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
