At the age of 17 years old Ralph entered the US Air Force serving 6 years primarily in Athens Greece. He obtained the rank of Technical Sargent by the age of 19 years old. While stationed in Greece he was introduced to the one and only love of his life, Maria Adamis by his Greek counterpart and best friend, Petros Adamis, who later became his brother in law. He became baptized in the the Greek Orthodox faith after returning to the States, later returned to Athens and asked for Maria's hand in marriage in 1955.
He graduated from Heald College in San Francisco, California with a BA in Mechanical Engineering and began his 35 year career with the California Water Service Company culminating as Chief Engineer.
Ralph is survived by his wife Maria and two sons Daniel Steiber (Highland Village, TX) and Thomas Steiber (Los Gatos, CA) and grandchildren Nicholas, Alexander, Adam, and Jake and daughter in laws Hariclia (Dan) and Karen (Tom.) Ralph's living sibling's include Donna McDonald, Margie Schmidt, and Delores Jorgenson.
The Trisagion will be held at The Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church 1260 Davis St, San Jose, CA, on April 21, 2015 at 7:00 PM. The funeral will be held The Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church 1260 Davis St, San Jose, CA on April 22, 2015 at 10:30 AM followed at the burial at City of Santa Clara Mission City Memorial Park, 420 N. Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara.
