Russell Owen Blosser, Jr., age 56, of Topeka, went to join his Saviour, Jesus Christ on Fri, Jan 20, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital in KC, KS. After a 6 week battle the staff at St Luke's said they had never seen a more courageous warrior.
Russell was born May 9, 1949 to Russell, Sr. and Lucille Thiel Blosser, in Bryan, OH.
Russell graduated in 1967 from Columbus High School in Columbus, IN. He earned his B.S. in Education from KU in 1971.
He married Kathryn Beguelin June 24, 1972 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence, home of the Jayhawks.
He is a member of the faith community of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. He organized The America for Jesus Faith Rally in the mid 80's. He was a member and past president of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship. He was a great friend, brother, husband, father, & grandfather who passionately pursued life. His faith was always on display in the way he lived his life. His walk was his greatest testimony. He was known to live by his personal motto, "Make It Happen," and he did. He was constantly investing himself in helping people pursue their dreams through hard work and education.
Russell spent over 20 years in management & training for Tempo-Gambles, and Duckwall-ALCO. He worked for the State of Kansas as a trainer for the Dept. of Revenue, and an auditor for the Racing Commission. He was a member of the local, state & national Society of Human Resources Management, and past president of the Topeka Chapter. He was awarded the local Human Resource Professional of the Year in 2005. He taught the SPHR licensure prep courses at Washburn University. He currently worked as the Human Resource Manager for the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library.
Survivors include his wife Kathy, Topeka; sons, John & his wife Amy Blosser, Van Alstyne, TX, Philip & his wife Lori Blosser, Topeka; daughter, Sarah & her husband Tim Krueger, Topeka; four grandchildren, Camden, Tory & Haven Blosser, TX, and Easton Blosser, Topeka; brother, James Blosser, Lawrence, and a sister, Diana Meece, Bloomington, IL.
Services will be Tues at 11:00 a.m. at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
