Birth: Jul. 27, 1865
Death: Jun. 30, 1903

George was one of the 120,000 volunteers to wage war against Spain when he joined the Kansas "Fighting Twentieth", in 1898. From Camp Leedy, in Kansas, they were sent to California. They shipped out of San Francisco thinking they were on their way to Cuba. Instead, they were sent to Manilla, Phillipine Islands. George became ill [likely malaria] and was shipped home by 1900. George is the son of George W and Mary Ann [Koontz] Beckner.
