Son of William & Elizabeth (Noel) Hall. He enrolled in the 12th Regiment, Pennsylvania Reserve Infantry (41st Volunteers) at Harrisburg on June 15, 1861 and was mustered in as a private in Co. A. on Aug. 10, 1861. The description given of him at the time was 5'8" with dark hair, dark complexion & dark eyes, his occupation was a clerk, and his residence was Hagerstown, MD. He later transferred into Co. K. In some records his name appears as Noel I. Hall.
from the Village Record, Waynesboro, Pa., June 10, 1864:
Among the heroes who fell mortally wounded in the battle of the Wilderness was Noel Hall, son of Wm. Hall, of Hagerstown. He was a member of Co. K., 12 Penn. Reserves and participated in all the engagements from the battle of Drainsville down to the one in which he received his death wound. His remains were intered at Hagerstown on Friday last.
