Margaret was the youngest of nine children born to Vernon and Gladys Dewitt. She grew up in and near Concordia, Kansas, and graduated from Concordia High School. She married Clyde Gile of Norway, Kansas on July 4, 1955 in Belleville, Kansas. They had five children. They celebrated their 40th anniversary in 1995. In July of 1999, Margaret was diagnosed with brain cancer. She passed away on January 19, 2000. She is survived by her husband, 5 children, 25 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
