E. Robert (Bob) Breech Jr., 88, of Pacific Palisades, Calif., died Nov. 24, 2006, at his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., to Ernest R. and Thelma (Rowden) Breech, who preceded him in death.
His parents were former residents of Lebanon and Stoutland. Over the years they contributed over $2 million for construction, renovation and additions to Breech Medical Center (now St. John's Hospital) in Lebanon.
A 1940 graduate of Dartmouth College, he received an AB degree in economics.
A successful entrepreneur, he was involved in the purchase, sale and operation of over 70 auto dealerships throughout the U.S.
He was chair of the Drury Board of Trustees in Springfield from 1983 to 1991. The Breech School of Business Administration is named for his father. He also gave the lead grant to fund the swimming pool at Hutchens HPER Center at Drury, which he donated to honor the memory of his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Jo Breech; four children, Robert M. Breech, Marjorie B. Woodward, Andrew L. Breech and William E. Breech, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service for E. Robert Breech Jr. was held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, in Los Angeles.
Memorials have been established to John Tracy Clinic, St. John's Hospital, City of Hope Cancer Center, Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
