Carpenter. 147th Regt Co C New York volunteers. Wounded first day of Battle of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863. Died several days later. Father of 4 boys & 5 girls. Sons John Frank Allen (Pvt Co L 3rd Regt WI Cavalry Volunteers) & Morgan Laban Allen Jr. also enlisted in Civil War. John Frank buried Iron River Cemetery, Iron County, Michigan.
