Mrs. Mary Louise Holland Denmark, age 86, died Monday September 6th, 2010 at the Westwood Nursing Center under the care of Odyssey Hospice. She had been a resident of Southern Manor and Gentilly Gardens for many years. The native of Register, Georgia was the daughter of the late Robert S. Holland and Annie Lee Holland. She was a 1940 graduate of Register High School where she was the class Valedictorian. Mrs. Denmark was a graduate of Georgia Teacher's College where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education. She was employed with the Bulloch County Board of Education for 30 years as a teacher, having served several schools and primarily the Brooklet School System. Mrs. Denmark was the oldest living member of the Nevils United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ruth Lowery Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending time in her yard. In 1998 Mrs. Denmark's husband of 53 years, James, preceded her in death. Additionally she was preceded in death by her siblings, Willa Lee Davis, Robbie Faye Nettles and Robert S. Holland.

Surviving are a daughter and son in law, Delenah and Robert E. Rogers of Black Creek, Ga.; three sons and daughters in law, Al and Gayle Denmark of Statesboro, Ga. Phil and Sunny Denmark of Brooklet, Ga. and Lee and Belinda Denmark of Truckee, Ca.; seven grandchildren, Erin Denmark, Brad Denmark, Brett Denmark, Amanda Helmey (Shaun), Jennifer Schrepel (Eric), Morganne Murphy and Ryan Murphy; a great grandson, Grayson James Helmey; a sister in law, Margie Denmark of Statesboro and a brother in law, Charles Strickland of Pembroke.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00am at the Nevils United Methodist Church. The body will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Brad Denmark, Brett Denmark, Shaun Helmey, Eric Schrepel, Noel Creasy and Terry Anderson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Lowery Sunday School Class.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Nevils United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8351 Nevils-Groveland Road, Statesboro, Georgia 30458 or the Odyssey Hospice, 810 Towne Park Drive, Suite 100, Rincon, Ga. 31326
