James Walter Gehrett of 802 Pennsylvania Avenue, Huntingdon, PA, died at 3:50 o'clock this Saturday morning, September 18, 1954 in the J. C Blair Memorial Hospital. He had been seriously ill since Thursday when he was admitted to the hospital. He had been in failing health for the past 24 years.
The deceased was born in Huntingdon on August 20, 1890, a son of George E. and Caroline (Burns) Gehrett. He was united in marriage to Catharine Smith on December 20, 1911.
He was active and faithful member of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church at McConnellstown, PA. He was a member of the church consistory for many years and was president of that group at the time of his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Caroline Gehrett of Smithfield, and these children: Mrs. James (Virginia) Dudley of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. James (Bertha) Henderson of Johnstown; James E. Gehrett of Mechanicsburg and Robert G. Gehrett of Arlington, VA. Seven grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church at McConnellstown, PA. The Rev. Ray E. P. Abbott will officiate and interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon, PA. Friends may call at the Haverstock Memorial Home in McConnellstown on Sunday and until 10 a.m. Monday when the body will be taken to the church where it may be viewed from 11 a.m. until the hour for the service.
