Lawrence Dee Bolling, age 70, resident of Fort Scott, died Sunday, March 6th, 2011, at Mercy Health Center. He was born September 13, 1940, in Fort Scott, the son of Byron Francis Bolling and Lucille Julia Judy Bolling. He graduated from Fort Scott High School. He then graduated from Pittsburg State with a business degree. Lawrence worked for Safeway and Foodtown grocery stores in his younger years. He married Letha Jeanette Graham on June 25th, 1977, in Fort Scott. He worked for the Western Insurance Company as a programmer for ten years. He worked as a press operator for Ward Kraft for fifteen years. Lawrence also served in the National Guard, retiring after 32 years of service. He greatly enjoyed the game of baseball, cheering for both the Royals and Cardinals. He was very handy, working on everything from plumbing to cars. He could often be found turning wrenches on a family members vehicle. He was a Deacon in the Mapleton Community of Christ Church. He gladly answered the call for any repair work needed at the church. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father.

Survivors include his wife Letha of the home; one daughter, Melanie Bolling, Dallas, Texas; one son, Ryan Bolling, Rogers, Arkansas; one brother; Charles Bolling, Fort Scott; one sister, Charlene Sipe and husband Roger, Fort Scott; mother-in-law Fern Graham, Nevada, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Kenton Graham and wife Chris, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Duane Graham and wife Georgia, Independence, Missouri. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and LeRoy Bolling; one sister, Doris Linville; as well as his parents.

Funeral services for Lawrence Bolling will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10th, at the Cheney Witt Chapel, Fort Scott. Burial will follow at the U. S. National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post #1165 V.F.W. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kansas 66701
