| Birth: | unknown | | Death: | Mar. 26, 1896 | William R. Boag, who served during the War in Co. K., 1st Massachusetts Infantry, died at the city hospital on Thursday last, after a short illness of pneumonia. He was well known to many as the collector for the old 1st Massachusetts volunteer association, Roxbury military historical society and other organizations. His collections have aggregated many thousand dollars, and though in very moderate circumstances he was unswervingly honest and reliable in his calling. During the war he was a prisoner and was confined in Libby prison, and he never recovered from the effects of his army hardships, so that he was not fitted for laborious work. Funeral services under the auspices of his army comrades will be held today at 3pm at the chapel at Forest Hills Cemetery. (from the Boston Globe, March 29, 1896) Inscription: Co. K. 1st Mass. Vols.
