History - Hyrum was a member of the Mormon Battalion. Upon his release, he returned to Salt Lake with other members.

He settled in Farmington with his family and made a home there, until they were called to go to Dixie to help settle that area. From there he took his family to help settle Meadow Valley (Panaca) Eagle Valley in Utah in 1864.

Meadow Valley, Eagle Valley, & Panaca were originally part of Washington County, Utah, but the congressional redrawing of boundaries in 1866 shifted both Valleys & Panaca into Nevada.

The spring of 1871, they moved to Kanab, and then in the fall moved to Panguitch and built a home there. Hyrum helped dig the first canal in Panguitch and was a member of the school board. He was also the first Justice of the Peace there.

In 1876 he was called to help settle Sunset in Northern Arizona.

Between 1876 and 1886, Hyrum Judd, under the direction of Lot Smith, supervised a Mormon Dairy one mile northeast near Dairy Spring. Beginning with a herd of 115 cows. Large quantities of butter and cheese were produced. During the 1880's the herd almost doubled in number, and dairy products were delivered to residents of distant Brigham City, Sunset, and St. Joesph, Arizona.

In 1881 they settled Smithville, in the Gila Valley in Arizona. In 1886 he closed the dairy.

In 1887 they went to Colonia Juarez in Mexico. He was a farmer, teamster, soldier, dairyman and surveyor.
