August 2, 1942: Unidentified adult male was found near Matinicus Island, Maine. The body was brought to the public landing in Rockland, Maine and buried at the City Farm Cemetery, Rockland, Maine on August 3, 1942. The medical examiner, H.J. Weisman determined that the date of death was about February to May 1942.
Probably second body that was found but washed away with the tide on July 30, 1942.
Thought to be from one or more merchant ships sunk by German U-boats during WWII.
