GLOUCESTER - Herbert Davis Clements, 83, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005, in Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. He was a native of Bellamy and was the son of the late James Franklin and Mary Walker Clements. He was a lifelong member of Bellamy United Methodist Church and the XYZ Club. Mr. Clements established Herbert Clements and Sons, Inc. in 1947 and retired in 1987. He also retired from the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown in 1964. Following his retirement, he loved taking home grown flowers, vegetables and homemade pies to his many friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fannie Smith Clements, and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Baranski. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane Clements; his daughter, Carolyn C. Moore and her husband, Ronnie; his sons, Frankie Clements and his wife, Vickey, and J.D. Clements and his wife, Martha; a stepson, Lyle McNutt and his wife, Kathy, and their family; two sisters, Ella Carmine of Wicomico, Va., and Sarah Walton of Warner, Va.; two brothers, Robert F. Clements of Gloucester and Leonard German of Newport News; his grandchildren, Brent Moore, Scott Moore, Cheryl Baranski and her husband, Steve, H.F. Clements, Heidi Condrey and her husband, Cameron, Luke Clements, Nick Clements and Susan Clements and her fiancÚ, Christopher Durant; his great-grandchildren, Ronnie and Daniel Moore, Steven, Bryant, Jacob and Christopher Baranski. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 7, in Bellamy United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stephen Vineyard and the Rev. Ray Goude. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Following the service on Thursday, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall and have requested that all gifts of food be taken to the fellowship hall.
