The son of James Christian and Mary Locke Brady, on 20 Dec 1863 in Liberty, Tioga County, PA, Joseph married Sarah Bitner, daughter of Abraham and Mary Bitner. They had seven children: William S., Minnie M, Jesse Lincoln, Clarance Abram, Ambrose B., Clyde G., and Mabel Harriet.

After being an invalid 20 years and helpless for 13 years, as a result of an attack of paralysis agitams, Joseph Brady, a lifelong and highly esteemed resident of Beech Creek died this afternoon at 12:45 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George McGhee, with whom he resided since the death of his wife, Sarah, whose maiden name was Bitner, three years ago.
Mr. Brady was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in the 137th regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and was a member of the Disciple church at Blanchard for many years. He bore his infirmities with patience and forbearance, but his sufferings were lessened by the tender care of his daughter, Mrs. McGhee, who provided every possible comfort for him. He was a farmer during his active life at Mapes Station, Beech Creek township. He was a man of the highest integrity and had a legion of friends, whose words of cheer comforted him during the years of his invalidism.
Deceased was aged 78 years, and is survived by the following named children, Minnie, wife of George C. McGhee; Mabel, wife of Richard Lingle, and Ambrose B. Brady, all of Beech Creek borough; Rev. Jessie I. Brady, of Oroville, Calif; Rev. Clarence A. Brady of Toronto, Canada, and William S. Brady, Rosebud, Pa.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of deceased's daughter, Mrs. McGhee, and interment will be made in the Disciple cemetery at Blanchard.
