Our beloved mother and grandmother, Evelyn Cecilia Thethis Cockerill England, passed away Friday, January 7, 2005, at the Cottage Glen in Tooele, Utah.
Evelyn was born Aug. 7, 1904, in Brisbane, Australia, to Albert Victor and Thethis Rebecca Guy Cockerill.
She moved to the United States when she was five years old and has been a resident of Tooele for the past 82 years.
She married John Elmer England in Tooele on Nov. 1, 1922, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 11, 1952.
She celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends in August. She was loved by all who knew her.
Evelyn was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions mostly in the Primary and Relief Society. She was a visiting teacher most of her life with 100 percent each month. She was a member of the Singing Mothers and Ward Choir. Evelyn enjoyed traveling. She was called the Go Go Grandma.
Evelyn enjoyed gardening and was proud of her beautiful roses.
Evelyn had a talent for handwork and shared the beautiful quilts, afghans and other items she made with family and friends.
Evelyn's family was her greatest pleasure. She dedicated her life to them.
She is survived by her eight children: Mary Wollam, Betty (Lloyd) Tonelli, Maxine (Gene) Falkenrath, Bonnie Hunter, Helen Whitlock, Alice (Ron) Harvey, Marjorie (Duane) Garrard and Leo (Joanne) England. Also by 25 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three sons-in-law: Monty Wollam, Warren Whitlock and George A. Hunter. Also by a great granddaughter Nickie Garrard.
The family extends special thanks to Cottage Glen and Dr. Beazer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the Tooele North Third Ward, 141 W. 200 N. (Utah Ave.), Tooele. A viewing will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at the Tate Mortuary and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment Tooele City Cemetery.
