| Birth: | Sep. 29, 1939 Ojai Ventura County California, USA | | Death: | Apr. 10, 2000 New York New York County New York, USA | Actor. Well-known for his portrayal of 'Major Frank Burns' on the television series, M*A*S*H. Raised in Sacramento California, Larry Linville studied aeronautical engineering at the University of Colorado, before he applied for a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. He was one of only three Americans out of 300 applicants to win. Though he acted in numerous TV shows like Mission: Impossible, Room 222, Mannix, The Love Boat and Fantasy Island, it is his portrayal of Major Frank Burns on the hit television show M*A*S*H that most people remember him for. On the show his character was known as 'Ferret Face', a name thought up by Linville's own brother. Unlike his M*A*S*H character, in real life Larry was very likeable and held in high esteem by his co-stars. (bio by: r77ortiz)
