Army Cpl. Benjamin C. Dillon, 22, of Rootstown, Ohio; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; died Oct. 7 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with small-arms fire. His awards and decoration include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal 2nd award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Army Expert Infantryman Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and recommended for the Bronze Star Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. Ben is survived by his loving parents, Terry and Linda Dillon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Nicholas and Julia and Steve and Amy, aunts and uncles, Bill and Patty Dillon, Den and Debbie Dillon, Tim and Kim Dillon, Doug and Diana Dillon, Arch and Sherri Nissel, Beverly Nissel and Aaron Adkins. Rick and Theresa Nissel; grandparents, Ed and Donna Dillon Byers of Edinburg and Arch and Rose Nissel.
