Sonny Henley, 83, of Dallas passed away Monday, December 16, 2013. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on September 12, 1930 to Ollie Miller Henley, Sr. and Lola Pierce Henley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bobby Joe Henley.

Survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Samford Henley; his brother, children, 9 grand children, 8 great-grand children, nieces and nephews.

Ollie served as a U.S. Marine in the Korean war from November 1951 to November 1953. He joined the Dallas city police force in 1954, retiring in 1981 after a 27-year career as a police officer. In 1977, he was voted "Officer of the Year" by the North Park Exchange Club of Dallas.

Funeral services will be held at Christian Center in Mesquite on Friday, December 20, 2013 with graveside service following at Laurel Land Dallas Cemetery.
