World War I Veteran

Enlisted in the US Army on 26 April 1918. Served as a Private, First Class in Company D, 312th Infantry, 78th Division. Discharged 12 May 1920.

"Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Beebe, of No. 407 Park street, have received a cable from a relative living in Paris saying that their son, Private James Warren Beebe, 312th Infantry, who was wounded severely on November 4, is now at a hospital at Vichey, France and is improving."

Funeral services for James Warren Beebe, 50, of 191 Bellevue Avenue, Upper Montclair, who died Dec. 30 at Mountainside Hospital, were held Saturday at Union Congregational Church, Upper Montclair. The Rev. Dr. George Clark Vincent, pastor, officiated. Interment was private.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Beebe had lived in Montclair thirty years. He was a salesman for the Sawdon Envelope Company, New York. Mr. Beebe was a Mason. He was a veteran of the last war and received the Purple Heart.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Henry Warren Beebe of the Bellevue Avenue address, and three sisters, Mrs. Harold C. Strohm of Montclair; Mrs. Robert W. Boyden of Andover, N.H., and Mrs. Thomas C. Cochran of New York.
