Hollis U. Keith; was a direct descendant of Rev. James Keith (B. 1643 Scotland), and the Son of Ira Keith and Charlotte (Lottie) Greene Keith.
Was a Teamster and Farmer.
Married Myrtle Pearl Lawrence, January 1, 1918
They had issue:

Farmed with his wife in Pleasant Valley area of Cambridge, a short time in Stowe, and Mud City area of Morristown until 1948. Sold the farm and moved to Brattleboro. Worked at the Brattleboro Retreat until about 1958. Moved back to Morrisville.
Member of the 29th Division, attached to the 57th Infantry Brigade in the 111th Machine Gun Battalion, CO. D. and saw action in France, most notably during the MEUSE-ARGONNE Offensive, SECOND PHASE, during October 1918. Was injured while tending to a fatally wounded buddy and inhaled (some) mustard gas burning off part of his epiglottis. Never made an issue of it and refused to officially report it. (Although he choked on almost every meal he ate, the rest of his life)
Was living with his daughter and son in law Barbara and George McAlister in Brattleboro, when stricken with a stroke. Died shortly after at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
