George M. Whitmore
Birth: Jul. 8, 1837
Death: May 31, 1897

George M. Whitmore was the husband of Sarah Hood.

According to his Civil War pension records, George was a private in the Union Army. He was the blacksmith for Co. I, 12 Tennessee Cavalry.

Like many other young men in north Georgia, he was a Southerner who served in the Union Army.

Some family history also states that he was later the sheriff in Union County, Georgia.

He was my gg-grandfather.
