I was going on a trip and had stopped at a pet store to get food for a pet when I saw a cage with 5 kittens. I opened it up to pet them and 1 walked over, bit me and walked away. I knew she was for me. I asked the owners to hold her for a week when I'd be back and I had them collar her after I paid.
She was a sassy little tabby with a lot of guts
- had to respect her. She was the bright spot in a very bad patch of my life. It got so bad, I was ready to exit but she walked in and even though I yelled and threw things @ her- she never left. I couldn't kill myself in front of her.
We moved to a new place and had a wonderful time. We didn't have much but we had each other and she was always amusing.
I met a man and Melissah LOVED him so I knew he was a keeper. We got married and moved to a new town. Soon she had a little sister, Sarah who bedeviled her all the time. A short time later, I brought home a 3rd kitty I had gotten from in front of a groc. store. After her quarantine had ended, I opened the door to officially let her meet her older fur sisters. a short time later, I was looking for Holly- Melissah had her pinned to the bed and was giving her a bath. I knew we had a family.
Sarah and Holly played together while the grand dame just watched. She loved her caat nip, yarn pieces, French fries and the corners off every Wednys hamburger *why ELSE are the square if not to share*
She started to get old kitty illnesses but was a fighter but eventually kidney failure took her. She died in my arms and we planted her in the back yard. Sadly, we lost Sarah 2 months and 4 days later as she had cancer and I was so focused on my little Muffin Mix.
She was a crazy cat but when she left, I remembered the bad times that we got through and she was the bridge to my new life.

*I had never seen it before, but Melissah had "odd paws"- the front right and the back left were the same beige color and the front left and back right were black. Many years later, I got my kitty Lucy and took me a few days to see SHE had the same "odd paws". Melissah had come back- Lucy does a LOT of the same things Muffy did*
