Lucie was one of a litter of puppies left on a lawn at the University of Oregon in the fall of 1997. My daughter brought her home and named her Lucita which means "Little Light."
She loved to swim and to fetch sticks in the water. She would jump into anything with water in it. One time she jumped into a friend's brand new water feature, and another time into an "elk wallow." She had favorite swimming holes around Cottage Grove Lake, and she was always ready to go to the beach.
Lucie knew which drive through windows would be good for a treat. She was very friendly with everyone she met unless they were driving a UPS truck. She never liked anything about that and would begin to show her displeasure before any of her humans could hear the truck coming.
Lucie was the Alpha when there were any other dogs around. They seemed to adore her, and she seemed to feel it was her due. We all adored her, and she left us too soon.
