Dr. James C. Aldendifer, 87, of Lincoln died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 1, 1919, in Lincoln, the son of Joseph R. and Marguerite C. Collins Aldendifer. He married Irene "Coty" Moser; she died in 1996. He married Ruth Goebel in 1997 in Lincoln.
Dr. Aldendifer graduated from Lincoln Community High School and attended Lincoln College, the University of Illinois and the University of Colorado. He earned a doctorate in dental surgery from Loyola University in Chicago and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity in Illinois and Colorado. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as an engineer, and received the Bronze Star Medal. He practiced dentistry in El Paso, Texas, and from 1962 until he retired in 1990 in Lincoln. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln.
Survivors: wife, Ruth; two sons, James C. (wife, Stephanie) Aldendifer Jr. of Dallas and Robert M. Aldendifer of Redondo Beach, Calif.; three stepsons, Robert (wife, Maxine) Goebel of Owensboro, Ky., Bruce (wife, Martha) Goebel of Harding and Steven (wife, Carol) Goebel of Shelbyville; three grandsons; seven stepgrandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Marianne A. Tucker of Naples, Fla.
