William Jackson Baker was the sixth and last child of James and Mary Bordeaux Baker and the only child to be born in Florida (Jefferson County) after the family's migration to Florida from North Carolina.

On 11 May 1852 William Jackson married Martha HAYMAN, dtr. of James & Deliah Martin Hayman. Together they had the following children: John Franklin "Frank" b. 1855; James Madison "Jim" b. Apr 1857; Martha Anna "Annie" Baker b. 1868.

1860 - William Jackson Baker appears on the Hernando County Taxpayers List.

Homestead Act of 1862, U.S. Patent, Application #4724, Certificate #916, dtd 1 Feb 1876; describes land as W 1/2 of SW 1/4 of Sec 1 and E 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Sec 2, Twn 21 S, Range 20 E, containing 160 and 006/100 acres.

Hernando Co., FL Deed, Bk B, Pg 212/214 James C. Baker and Laura C.A. Baker to Wm J. Baker, dtd 6 Aug 1877; Florida A.E. Smith & Thomas N. Smith to Wm J. Baker Aug 1877. It appears James and Florida, who were brother Isaac's children, sold land from their father's estate to Wm Jackson, their uncle. Land is now located in Citrus County, FL.

Hernando Co., FL Deed Bk A, Pg 619/621, dtd 3 Jan 1880, Wm J Baker & Martha (his wife) to J.F. & J.M. Baker; specified names as John Franklin and James Madison; gave sons land w/homes, outhouses, barns, stables, etc.

William was a charter member (18 Jan 1893) of the Floral City Lodge #133 Masons according to A History of Floral City by Marie L. Morris.

25 Jun 1907 William Jackson applied for a military pension due to age and disability. States he fell in 1898 and is missing muscular attachment to his right shoulder. On 4 Sep 1909 he declares his is 80 years old, born 22 Jan 1829 in Jefferson County, FL. He says he enlisted at Bayport 21 Jun 1862 in Company C, 9th Regiment of FL CSA. Honorably discharged May 1865.

Church records of Floral City Methodist Church indicates Martha Baker was received into membership in Sep 1892. Her membership was transferred on 1 Jul 1895. Records indicate her membership was then transferred back into the church on 25 Jul 1900 and transferred out again in 1902.
