William Wallace Kimball was born to John Garrett Kimball and Alice Adelia Clough Kimball on Nov. 8 1889 at Sharon, Barber, Kansas. He was their 4th child, joining Emma Vidella, Jay Perry and Esther. Later 2 other sisters, Sarah Maude and Edith A. joined the family. William came to Idaho in 1910 and worked at Nampa for 2 years. He then moved to Gross, Idaho in Gem County. He was married there to Janie Amelia Gross on Dec. 25, 1915. William and Janie homesteaded between 2nd and 3rd fork of Squaw Creek above Ola, Idaho. There is a creek there that dumps into Squaw Creek that is called Kimball Creek named after him. Their first child Marjorie was born Oct. 22,1918 and a son Robert (Bob) Wallace on Apr. 21,1923 and another son Earl Gustav born Mar. 25,1926 all 3 born while living on their homestead. The family moved to Emmett in 1927. William farmed 80 acres in Emmett on Star Lane until his retirement. While living on Star Lane the family grew to include 3 more children; Jean Ann on Feb.3,1929, Donald Lee on Dec. 30, 1934 and Larry Dwight on Mar. 12 1938. William was a member of the Foursquare Church.
William died at age 82 in a hospital in Emmett on Saturday, Jan. 22, 1972. He suffered with Emphysema in his later years. He was buried on Tues. Jan. 25, 1972. The service was held at Beatty Chapel in Emmett under the direction of Rev. Robert Martin of the Foursquare Church with interment at the Emmett Riverside Cemetery. Survivors include his wife: Janie, 4 sons;, Robert of Los Angeles CA, Earl of Ontario OR, Don & Larry of Emmett, 2 daughters Marjorie Gafford of Emmett and Jean Richey of Rosedale, Ind., a sister Edith Davis of Emmett, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
