Son of Etta Gray Weaver Hardman of Shinnston, Harrison County, WV and the late Franklin Paine Hardman. Grandson of William Henry Hardman and Margaret Ella Williams Hardman. Married Mildred G Buckhannon Hardman (born May 10, 1926, Napier, WV) in Shinnston, Harrison County, WV June 30, 1945. Father of at least three sons. US Navy Veteran, World War II, WV S1 USNR. Member of the Loyal Order of Moose 929, Shinnston, and UMWA Local 4042. He had 16 years experience as a miner, two years at Farmington Number 9 Consolidated Coal Mine. He was working as a motorman on midnight shift when the explosion that took the lives of 78 miners occurred. His remains were recovered October 24, 1969.
