Lovena G. "Vena" Goodwin Case

RITCHEY, MO — Lovena G. "Vena" Case, age 90, of Ritchey, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at St. John's Regional Hospital, Joplin, Mo.
Born Sept. 6, 1920, in Kirksville, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Bert and Grace Goodwin.
She was a 1942 graduate of Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College, Kirksville. She taught art in Maryville, Mo., and Hampton, Iowa.
She married Melvin Case Nov. 24, 1948, in Hampton. They moved to Joplin in 1965. He died June 20, 1979.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church until moving to Ritchey in 2005. For 20 years she worked with Joplin NALA-READ Adult Literacy as a tutor and a trainer of new tutors.
Survivors include two daughters, Jann Burnett and husband, Steve, of Ritchey, and Jill Brown and husband, David, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Lance Burnett and wife, Mendy, of Parsons, Kan., Megan Hinkle, of Ritchey, and Kumari Brown, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Leah Kate Burnett and Eva and Alexander Hinkle.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 25, at 2:30 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Louise Reed officiating. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 1:30 until service time.
Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Pete McCluskey, Steve Burnett, David Brown, Lance Burnett, Megan Hinkle and Sonny Shewmake.
