When the British General Cornwallis was on his march to Guilford courthouse, he passed through Barnett Eytel/Idol's farm and seized all the food stuffs, including the cattle. Elizabeth had a baby who depended on milk from a cow, she faced General Cornwallis and begged him to give one of the cows back because her baby's life depended on it's milk. Cornwallis acceded to her request.

The Following Is A Translation Of Writing Found In An Old German Bible Which Was Sent By Conrad Meier of Winkel, Parish Of Bulach, Switzerland, To His Daughter Elizabeth Meir Idol in Pennsylvania.
'These Bibles Are To Come To My Sons and Daughters In Pennsylvania. It Will Make Me Heartily Rejoice When I Hear That It Pleased You. So You Can Inform Me When You Write Again Whether You Have Received All - Namely Two Bibles, Four Red With White Checked Quite Good Womans Or Mans Neck Cloths And Black And Red Silk Along With Them. One Little Prayer Book Also Read Thou This Little Book - So Will You Think Of Me And You Can Refresh Your Souls Therin, As I Hope.
