Son of William Coffin and Priscilla Paddock. He married Hepzibah Starbuck (daughter of Joseph Starbuck and Ruth Macy) on January 29 1767 at Sherbourne, Nantucket. Their children were Libni Jr., Jeremiah, William, Mehitable, Nathaniel, Ann, Ruth, Abijah, Priscilla, and Hepsabeth.
