He was a professer of Civil and Environmental Engineering. killed in the Virginia Tech shootings. Loganathan, 51, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Virginia Tech, was one of two Purdue alumni killed in a rampage at the Blacksburg, Va., campus on Monday. At the time of the shootings, he was teaching a class on advanced hydrology in Norris Hall, where 31 people were killed. Jacques Delleur, a professor emeritus in the Purdue school of civil engineering, said he remembers that many students praised Loganathan when he was a teaching assistant at Purdue. Delleur was Loganathan's academic adviser and professor while Loganathan worked to obtain his doctorate, which he did in 1982.
