Mrs. Goodman, 81, Succumbs In Hospital
Mrs. Mary P. Goodman, 81, of 21 Portland Avenue, widow of John Goodman, who with her husband operated the Henrys Bend ferry many years ago, died at 2:25 a.m. Saturday in the Oil City Hospital after several weeks' illness. Born June 1, 1877 in Venus, a daughter of the late Amos and Anie Myers Martin, she received her education in Venus schools and came to Oil City in 1927.
She was married in 1892 to John Goodman, who preceded her in death on June 12, 1935. Mrs. Goodman was a member of the Second Free Methodist Church.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Karl (Mae) Worst, Oil City; Mrs. Adolph (Florence) Bahr, Franklin; Mrs. Edward (Laura) Schnitzer, Oil City; Harry, of Titusville, Charles, of Polk, and Wilbert Goodman, of San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Erie Stover, of Titusville, a brother, Scott Martin, of Plumer, two half brothers Clair Clark, of President, and Biryl Clark, of Olean, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Norman O. Morton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Eugene Kern, pastor of the Second Free Methodist Church, officiating. Rev. A.C. Spencer, of Warren, former pastor of the local church, will assist. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery at Goodman's Corners.
