Herman Henry Bruns, 70, 22 S. 15th St. Van Buren, died Wednesday night February 8, 1956 at Crawford Memorial Hospital.
He was born on February 14, 1885 to Albert and Pauline Bathke Bruns in Tulare, Spink, South Dakota.
Mr. Bruns had been a resident of Van Buren for 54 years, and was a retired railroad dispatcher for the Missouri-Pacific railroad where he had worked for 44 years. He was a member of the Lutheran church, Masonic Lodge No. 6 of Van Buren, Royal Arch masons and a member of the Train Dispatchers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Bruns of Waverly, Iowa and a son, James Albert Bruns.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ocie Bruns of the home; his mother, Mrs. Pauline Bathke Bruns of Waverly Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Lewis of Fayetteville, Mrs. Caroline Allen of Tulsa and Mrs. Hermie Smith of Fayetteville; eight sons, F.L. (Pete) Bruns of Van Buren, Herman R. of Phillips, Texas, Antone of Los Angeles, CA, Francis of Waco, Texas, William of Kansas City, Kansas, Captain Henry Bruns of the U.S. Army, stationed at Killeen Texas, Walter of Culver City Kansas and Robert of Van Buren. Two brothers, John of Waterloo, Iowa and Antone of Waverly; two sisters, Mrs. Guy (Minnie) Rice of Tulsa, Ok and Mrs Mary Atkins of Hammond, IN; 21 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at Wood Memorial Christian Church with Dr. W.B. Miller officiating, with Rev. Robert E. Brown assisting.
Burial was held at Gracelawn Cemetery, February 11, 1956.
